The Mission

Adventure, practical skills and opportunities after the trip.

We want veterans to have opportunities to meet, spend time outdoors, and build connections through shared adventures. This trip effort sits alongside our broader Veteran Outreach vision: planned trade school pathways, canine development, homestead systems, and long-term purpose after service.

The Proposed Experience

Connect outdoors. Learn together. Take useful tools home.

The goal is a sponsor-supported experience centered on camaraderie, outdoor activities, practical classes, resource sessions and time together. Veterans will have opportunities to explore benefits, employment, financial skills, trades and technology, with final classes selected by team vote. The plan includes airfare for four selected veterans and additional local veteran attendees. The approximately 15-person group includes the support team; it is not a promise of 15 veteran places. Activities remain subject to pricing, availability, safety and accessibility review.

Day 1 — Team and workshop preparation

The core team prepares the lodge, meals and supplies, coordinates instructors and approved class materials, and organizes laptop resources and fishing equipment as available. Transportation, emergency information and the final schedule are checked before veterans arrive.

Day 2 — Welcome, connection and resource orientation

Four fly-in veterans arrive through Cleveland with designated pickup, alongside local attendees. The proposed day combines the Wreck-It / Rage Room experience, travel to Hocking Hills, dinner and introductions with an orientation to available veteran resources and the planned classes.

Day 3 — Practical classes and outdoor experiences

The proposed schedule makes room for educational workshops and hands-on resource sessions alongside trails, caves, waterfalls and fishing. Potential classes cover benefits, employment and resumes, budgeting, trades, technology, outdoor skills and first aid. Final classes, instructors and timing will be voted on and confirmed. Optional paintball remains subject to budget, timing and suitability.

Day 4 — Resource kits, next steps and departure

Alongside a proposed zipline adventure and final meal, the plan includes reviewing what veterans learned, sharing follow-up contacts and helping participants use their take-home resources. Our goal is for each veteran to leave with a resource-loaded laptop and a personal fishing kit, subject to sponsorship and availability. Veteran departures and airport transportation follow.

Days 5–7 — Team review and family time

After veteran attendees depart, the proposed remaining lodge stay includes team review, veteran feedback, cost and sponsor reporting, future planning and personal/family time. Local core-team families may join. This portion is separate from the veteran activity days.

This is a proposed program layout, not a finalized class timetable. The team will vote on the classes and assign someone to organize or teach each approved session. Recreation, learning and take-home resources are all part of the trip’s purpose.

Connection. Recreation. Opportunity.

Practical learning and tools to take home.

Classes selected by team vote

Proposed topics include veteran benefits, employment and resumes, budgeting, business, trades and apprenticeships, technology, outdoor skills, first aid and personal development. The team will vote on the final classes and assign an instructor, organizer or subject-matter resource to each approved workshop.

Laptop resource kit goal

We want each participating veteran to leave with a laptop containing veteran-service links, employment and resume resources, trade and education information, budgeting tools, workshop materials and outreach contacts.

Fishing kit goal

Our goal is a personal rod, reel, tackle and starter equipment for each participating veteran so they can continue enjoying the outdoors after the trip.

Classes, equipment and quantities remain subject to team approval and available support. Resource kits are goals, not guaranteed items. Kit costs must be confirmed within the final budget.

Frontline Chimney is confirmed as our food sponsor and has committed to covering food for the trip. The food estimate below remains part of the preliminary cost plan; the commitment’s dollar value and payment or delivery details have not yet been reconciled into funding totals.

Sponsorship

Help make the veteran experience possible.

Financial or in-kind support

Discuss supporting a veteran’s trip, lodging, airfare, activities, a laptop resource kit, a fishing kit, an approved workshop, apparel or transportation. Frontline Chimney has committed to covering food. Donated goods and services can reduce cash needs; additional support and recognition are coordinated individually.

Recognition and reporting

Potential recognition includes an agreed business name or logo listing, event materials, consent-based photos or stories, and a post-event thank-you and impact summary. Sponsor reporting will distinguish plans, approved decisions, actual finances and progress.

The full proposed stay includes Days 5–7 team review and personal/family time. Direct veteran costs, necessary team support and personal/family costs must be allocated separately. Sponsor funds are used only for agreed purposes; this plan does not authorize sponsors to fund family leisure. Cash and in-kind contributions are recorded separately. No tax-deductibility claim is made.
